FRCs set the amount of legal costs that the winning party can claim back from the losing party in civil litigation. They give certainty in advance about the maximum amount that the losing party will have to pay.
Fixed Recoverable Costs are predetermined costs that a successful party in a case can recover from the losing party. An amendment to Civil Procedure Rule 45 will introduce FRCs for Fast Track and Intermediate Track claims. It is a docHub departure from the traditional method of costs being assessed by a Judge.

There are fixed costs, where the amount is fixed for all claims falling within the category. There may be different tiers of fixed costs depending on the amount of damages or the stage docHubed in the case, but there is no maths involved. Small claims costs, portal costs and fast track trial costs are examples.
Fixed Costs: The small claims track has established fixed costs that can be recovered by the winning party. These are typically limited and intended to cover basic expenses such as Court fees, witness expenses, and travel costs some costs can also be recovered by reference to different stages of a claim.
