In Excel, the FIXED formula is a built-in mathematical function that returns the rounded number of a given value to a specified number of decimal places, without changing the value itself. The function formats the number in decimal format using a period and commas and returns the result as text.
=FIXED(number, [decimals], [nocommas]) The FIXED function uses the following arguments: Number (required argument) This is the number that we wish to round off and convert into a text string. Decimals (optional argument) This specifies the number of decimal places to be displayed after the decimal point.
Fixing is done by inserting the dollar sign ($) in front of the row or column name for which we want to keep the same value when copying.
Fixing just columns (or rows) Fixing references requires two dollar signs (e.g. $AB$31) for a reason. The first dollar sign, which precedes the column reference, fixes the column; the second fixes the row. They can be used separately, so that only the column or only the row is fixed.
If you want to maintain the original cell reference when you copy it, you lock it by putting a dollar sign ($) before the cell and column references. For example, when you copy the formula =$A$2+$B$2 from C2 to D2, the formula stays exactly the same.
The FIXED Function[1] is categorized under Excel TEXT functions. It will provide a text representation of a number rounded to the specified number of decimal places. While doing financial analysis, we often import data from external sources. The FIXED function helps convert numbers into text.
Use the FIX function to convert a numeric value to a floating-point number with a specified precision. FIX lets you control the accuracy of computation by eliminating excess or unreliable data from numeric results.
Use functions instead of operations Functions often ignore text values and calculate everything as numbers, eliminating the #VALUE! error. For example, instead of =A2+B2+C2, type =SUM(A2:C2). Or, instead of =A2*B2, type =PRODUCT(A2,B2).
