hello everyone welcome to another stated tutorial video in this video Im going to show you how to use basic fixed effects models in Stata the data stuff that I have here is the crime 2 data set this data set shows the number of crimes in a variety of cities in two years 1982 and 1987 along with that we have some other basic pieces of information about each of those places we have the population unemployment rate number of police officers and so forth from a policy standpoint we may be interested in the relationship between the unemployment rate and the number of crimes in a particular city one thing to take note of here is the ID variable which indicates which city it is were talking about with each individual city assigned a unique number each City shows up twice in the data set once for 1982 and once for 1987 you can see here that the DAT 7 that is the dummy variable indicating 1987 goes from 0 to 1 0 to 1 and that corresponds with pairs of numbers in the ID column lets start out
