hello everybody in this video im going to show you how to format the axis on your chart in excel to show the dates correctly so sometimes when you look at the axis you will see that the units are in numbers and people are asking how do i change this and convert it in months and days now there is a bug in excel when you use a scatter chart this is a scatter chart then you will get this bug and you will see numbers instead of dates so what we need to do is you just go to the chart design and you change the chart from scatter to line and then you can choose for example line with markers and then you will have the option suddenly for dates so lets say we set our bounds from january to december and then we set the major month one so we we have a data point for each month then you get this so now we have a data point for each month from january to december and you can play with this you can set here category date you can change the type of the dates and this is how you fix this bug its r

In the Format Axis dialog box, click Scale, and under Value axis scale, modify any of the following options: To change the number at which the vertical (value) axis starts or ends, for the Minimum or Maximum option, type a different number in the Minimum box or the Maximum box.
Edit or rearrange a series Right-click your chart, and then choose Select Data. In the Legend Entries (Series) box, click the series you want to change. Click Edit, make your changes, and click OK.
The common advice from the data visualization experts is to always start your measurement axis at zero so that the relative size of the columns or bars is always showing an accurate picture of the values being represented. Here is the above graph with the axis starting at zero.
Make Y Axis Start at 0 in Charts in Excel Select the Chart and go to the Layout tab (that is visible only when you select a chart). Click the Axes button and go to Primary Vertical Axis and then More Primary Vertical Axis Options You will now be in the Format Axis window. Hit Close and thats it!

Number you want it to go through close.
Click anywhere in the chart. This displays the Chart Tools option on the ribbon. In the Format Chart Area dialog box, click the Properties tab. Under Object Positioning select the appropriate option.
Inserting a Stacked Column Chart Click the Insert tab of the ribbon. Click the Column button in the Charts group. Select the Stacked Column format option from the Column Chart drop-down menu to show the values of each category on the Y axis.
In case of line chart, the reason we use non-zero unit in the Y scale is because we sometimes have to zoom in to the visualization so that it appears more meaningful. The same line chart will look different, if we zoom out and start the line graph at zero. The change in value over time will look rather uniform.
