Open a new or existing document in Google Doc. In the tool bar, select the appropriate heading style from the Styles dropdown menu to format the text in your document. Note: if you hover over each style, the text where your cursor currently is will change to match the style.
In the Caption dialog box click Numbering. Select the Include chapter number check box. In the Chapter starts with style list, select the heading style that was applied to the chapter heading. In the Use separator list, select a punctuation mark to separate the chapter number from the caption number.
Modifying your Heading Write your heading text. Apply the correct heading style to it. Change the font, color, size, etc. until you are satisfied with your changes. In the same headings menu as above, select the small arrow next to the heading level you are using. Select Update [heading level] to match.
Change page setup of a Google Doc On your computer, open a document in Google Docs. In the toolbar, click File. Page setup. At the top of the dialog window, select Pages. Go to the setting you want to change: Orientation. Make your changes. Click OK.
Google Docs will automatically add headings to an outline, but you can also add them manually. Open a document in the Google Docs app. Tap Edit . Select the text you want to make a heading. Tap Format . Tap TEXT. Style. Tap a heading style. Tap Done. . The heading will be added to the outline.
Change or remove header footer margins On your computer, open a document in Google Docs. Click in a header or footer. At the top left, click Format Headers footers. More options. Under Apply to, choose a section or the entire document. Enter your margin sizes. Click Apply.
Restore a default style On your computer, open a document in Google Docs. Restore original to the Google style: Click Format. Select Paragraph styles, then select Options. Finally, choose Reset styles.
To create a heading, chapter, or sub-chapter, type the text that will serve as the title, select the text with your cursor, click the Normal text drop-down in the formatting toolbar, and select Heading 1, Heading 2, or Heading 3. Continue doing this until you have all of the headings formatted.
