If the domain name is associated with an old IP address that has not been changed and a different certificate is referring to the same IP address, then you may encounter a Common Name Mismatch Error. You can solve this problem by changing DNS record.
A common name mismatch error occurs when the common name or SAN of your SSL/TLS Certificate does not match the domain or address bar in the browser. This can happen simply by visiting https://example.com instead of https://.example.com if the certificate does not have them both listed in the SAN of the certificate.
On the machine without internet access... Click Start>Run. ... Type: certmgr.msc - this opens the certificate manager. Right click on the item "Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Select All Tasks>Import. Click Next. Click "Browse", change the file type in the lower right selection drop-down to "All Files"
First, you'll need to enter your website domain into the SSL checker. For case 1, when the site address is not included in the SAN, click the 'Ignore certificate mismatch' in the SSL checker. You can then see a full analysis wherein you can check if the right domains and IP addresses have been included.
If the certificate doesn't seem to be immediately trusted – for example, you're receiving warnings or errors attempting to access resources – reopen "Keychain Access." Right-click the certificate and click "Get Info." Open the "Trust" menu, and under "When Using This Certificate," check "Always Trust."
The most common cause of a "certificate not trusted" error is that the certificate installation was not properly completed on the server (or servers) hosting the site. Use our SSL Certificate tester to check for this issue. In the tester, an incomplete installation shows one certificate file and a broken red chain.
Once you renew your SSL certificate, try loading your website again to see if the NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID error persists. Try Reloading the Page (Or Using Incognito Mode) ... Clear Your Browser's Cache and Cookies. ... Sync Your Computer's Clock. ... Try Using a Different Network. ... Disable Your VPN or Antivirus Software.
You will need to remove a self-signed certificate from the server and the one issued by the Certificate Authority. Note, when removing a self-signed SSL, please make sure to save the private key, since it will be required for the SSL installation.
The certificate not trusted error indicates that the SSL certificate is not signed or approved by a company that the browser trusts. This occurs most often for one of the following reasons: The web site is using a self-signed certificate.
This problem can be fixed by simply removing the erroneous certificate from the server and replacing it with the correct certificate file.
