Add line and page breaks in Pages on iPad Tap where you want the break to occur. Tap. in the shortcut bar above the keyboard, then tap Line Break or Page Break. If you don't see Page Break, your document is a page layout document and doesn't use page breaks. Instead, you can add a new page.
Keep words on the same line Word automatically breaks the text at a space or a hyphen at the end of a line. To keep two words or a hyphenated word together on one line, you can use a nonbreaking space or nonbreaking hyphen instead of a regular space or hyphen. Click where you want to insert the nonbreaking space.
Adjust automatic page breaks On the Format menu, select Paragraph, and then select the Line and Page Breaks tab. Clear the Keep lines together, Keep with next, and Page break before check boxes.
Turning off automatic hyphenation Select the paragraph or paragraphs. Click the Home tab in the Ribbon. Click the dialog box launcher on the bottom right corner of the Paragraph group. The Paragraph dialog box appears. Click Line and Page Breaks. Select or check Don't Hyphenate. Click OK.

Do one of the following: Close a document but keep Pages open: Click the red close button in the top-left corner of the Pages window, or press Command-W. Close the document and quit Pages: Choose Pages > Quit Pages (from the Pages menu at the top of your screen).
Remove a page break from a Word document On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click Show/Hide to show all formatting marks including page breaks. Double-click the page break to select it, then press Delete. Click Show/Hide again to hide the remaining formatting marks in the document.
Most word processors have an option to automatically hyphenate words that do not completely fit at the end of a line. For example, if the word “character” needs to be split, a hyphen is inserted at the end of the line (“char-”), and the rest of the word (“acter”) continues on the next line.
