Years ago when I first got into digital raw photography, my photo editing process was.. well, pretty much non-existent. I would open a raw image in Lightroom, I would scroll through the Develop panel, and I would move sliders left and right without really understanding what I should be doing and in what order in order to create a photograph out of the gray, dull, RAW image that I saw in front of me. After plenty of failed attempts, I realized that my process or lack thereof needed structure. A series of steps, each with its own clearly defined goal, so that anytime I would sit down to edit a photo, I would know where to start, where I was going next, and where I would ultimately finish. So today Im going to share with you my own 10 step RAW photo processing framework. It sounds rather official butits really not. These are simply the steps which work best for me and the way that I approach photo processing. By the way the focus of this video will be on the framework itself, so

Optimize as JPEG Open an image and choose File Save For Web. Choose JPEG from the optimization format menu. To optimize to a specific file size, click the arrow to the right of the Preset menu, and then click Optimize To File Size. Do one of the following to specify the compression level:
The best quality setting for a JPEG is usually between 60 and 80. On the other hand, if youre working with an image that will be used for web or email, you can save it at a lower quality setting around 72 dpi is typically sufficient. This will help to keep the file size down, which is important for web images.
My baseline recommendation is to use 77% in Lightroom, or value 10 for JPEG compression in Photoshop. It often results in roughly 200% or more in space savings and usually preserves enough detail in the scene without adding visible artifacts.
Open an image and choose File Save For Web.Optimize as JPEG Choose a quality option (Low, Medium, High, and so on) from the pop‑up menu under the optimization format menu. Click the arrow in the Quality menu and drag the Quality pop‑up slider. Enter a value between 0 and 100 in the Quality box.
Two ways to adjust image tone and color are to use adjustment layers or to edit in docHub Camera Raw. Both offer a wide range of control and flexibility, without permanently altering or damaging the original image information. The integrity of your original images is preserved.
When preparing images for print, the highest quality images are desired. The ideal file format choice for print is TIFF, followed closely by PNG. With your image opened in docHub Photoshop, go to the File menu and select Save As. This will open the Save As window.
As a general benchmark: 90% JPEG quality gives a very high-quality image while gaining a docHub reduction on the original 100% file size. 80% JPEG quality gives a greater file size reduction with almost no loss in quality.
This is where photo editing software like ON1 Photo RAW comes in it allows you to create the exact look youre going for with most file types like jpeg and not just raw files. You can easily fine-tune the style, paint in adjustments to specific areas, and enlarge photos to any dimension.
