hello and welcome to another Excel demo with Rich Kerr in this scenario Id like to calculate how long an invoice has been open and uh to do that well take advantage of the today function in Excel so uh if you want to set up uh some sample dates for yourself for this exercise go right ahead and well come back from the break and uh start our formula in column B okay Ill start with an equal sign and my goal is to figure out uh how long ago was November 13th thats in essence what were trying to determine so with our equal sign well use the today function and remember that the today function is a function so its followed by a pair of parentheses I will then subtract the invoice date which is in cell A2 so I have the current date so the today function is reflecting the current date uh minus A2 now often when you perform math with dates in Excel the application makes the assumption that your result should be formatted as a date as well which obviously isnt true here so I need to chan
