hello and welcome new session of MBD PMI today we learn more about surface finish symbols this is a casted part and we have a couple of machine surface of the casting the casted part will be looking like this and we will be machining to the shape and well start with surface finish symbols we have mainly three type of machining symbols if you use if you find this on the drawing that means the is no need of any further machining this could be a casted or forced or molded part so we can define the roughness value of these three options casting forging or molding and you can define the allowance also generally we dont provide allowance for machining elements for casting you can just define the roughness value are a value in microns or you can define it as great you can just define and six that will be fine but if you want to define tolerance for this our array value we can defined the lower limit and the upper limit as well something like 36 I mean 32 to 63 or something like and mine too

RMA(RA) Stand for Root Mean Square(Roughness Average), it is a term used to measure the roughness of a surface,RMS 63 is a smooth surface finish, RMS 125 is an average manufacturing surface, RMS 25 is a very clean smooth surface finish.
The angle is the symbol for surface roughness, and this symbol indicates that the surface should be no rougher than 32.
