You now have until 31 July 2023 to use them. Alternatively swap them out. Weve added barcodes to all our regular stamps. Regular stamps without a barcode* will no longer be valid after 31 July 2023.
Yep, its happening. First and second class stamps as we know them are officially changing. In an effort to go digital, Christmas and Definitive (the regular ones) stamps now come with a unique barcode. They connect the stamp to the Royal Mail app, with the aim of making it easier to track everyday post.
What can I do with old first and second class stamps and when do they expire? OLD-STYLE first and second class stamps are set to expire in 2023 as Royal Mail rolls out a new barcode system. The date to use regular stamps that dont have a barcode was originally January 31, but this has been extended until July 31.
Customers must affix additional postage when mailing letters weighing in excess of 1 ounce and/or letters subject to the nonmachinable surcharge or mailpieces subject to another rate of postage (e.g., large envelopes or packages).
The price of a First Class stamp will rise by 10p to 95p and the price of a Second Class stamp will increase by 2p to 68p.
Originally 1st and 2nd class stamps were going to become unusable by January 31, 2023 but this has now been extended by a grace period of six months to July 31, 2023. Traditional stamps are being replaced by ones with barcodes attached, which will make it possible to watch videos, messages, and much more.
If so, you need to be aware that the official deadline for using up stamps without barcodes notably the regular first and second-class everyday stamps featuring the profile of the late Queen is getting closer. After 31 January 2023, regular stamps without a barcode will no longer technically be valid for postage.
Use Royal Mails Stamp Swap Out Scheme: You can exchange non-barcoded stamps for barcoded ones. Royal Mail opened this scheme on 31 March 2022. The Stamp Swap Out Scheme will remain open after 31 January 2023 so you can continue to swap out any old non-barcoded stamps.
