If you had any engagement with pop culture in your childhood, golden ticket is probably a term whose origin you dont need explained. It describes something, usually unexpected, that can lead to opportunity or fortune for a select recipient.
Did you know that Wonka bars and the golden tickets as pictured in the famous Willy Wonka movies were actually a reality for a brief period? But what happened to them eventually? Timothee Chalamets upcoming film Wonka has been adapted from a beloved Roald Dahl novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The ticket says far more than could logically fit on it: Greetings to you, the lucky finder of this Golden Ticket, from Mr Willy Wonka! I shake you warmly by the hand! Tremendous things are in store for you!
Mr. Wonka hides five Golden Tickets in five Wonka candy bars and announces that the five children who find the Golden Tickets will have the opportunity to tour his factory.

Sure enough, Charlie opens the candy bar and finds the final Golden Ticket (Ive Got a Golden Ticket)! He runs home to tell his family of his win. Mrs. Bucket realizes that the tour is today and sends Charlie off to the chocolate factory with a kiss (At the Gates).
