Follow these steps to select a specific paper size when printing a document. Open the Word document you want to print and select the File tab. Select Print. Select the Paper size drop-down arrow and choose the output you prefer. To print a letter-sized document on A5-sized paper, select Letter then choose A5.

You can convert a DOCX file to DOC by opening the DOCX file in Microsoft Word, clicking the File tab and Save As, then selecting . doc format from the File Format dropdown menu.
Under Settings, select Landscape Orientation. Select A4 as the paper size. On the option that allows you to modify the number of pages per sheet, select 2 Pages per Sheet. Under the same menu, hover to the Scale to Paper Size option and select A5.
Put simply, . Doc is the older version of a Microsoft Word Document. DocX is the newer version, form versions of Microsoft Word 2007 onwards.
The main difference between the two file formats is that in DOC, your document is saved in a binary file that includes all the related formatting and other relevant data while a DOCX file is actually a zip file with all the XML files associated with the document.
Go to print and, from Printer Properties, set the scale factor to 70.7 percent. That will adjust it to A5 size (on A4 paper). However, the printers margins will not scale, as they are set by the printers hardware. Hence you may need to set the scale factor slightly lower, depending on your printers margins.
