Print-as-a-Service (PraaS) is an outcome based subscription business model that allows customers to consume print services without the hassle of acquiring individual components of the print services, including print devices, service plans, supplies, and document workflow solutions.
The Print Spooler is software built into the Windows operating system that temporarily stores print jobs in the computers memory until the printer is ready to print them. In some circumstances you may need to stop and/or restart the service. To access the Print Spooler you must open the Local Services console.
Print requests are used to streamline the printing process when one centralized location prints ID cards for other locations within an organization. Print requests are created by the Identity Manager, received by a location print manager, then processed, and sent to the original location.
Click the Start button and select Run. Type command (Figure 1) and then click OK to display the Command Prompt (Figure 2). In the Command Prompt, type net stop spooler and then press Enter to stop the Print Spooler. In the Command Prompt, type net start spooler and then press Enter to start the Print Spooler.
How to restart the Print Spooler Scroll down the list and click or tap on Print Spooler. Click or tap on Restart the service. Windows will attempt to start the service. Once the Print Spooler status is Running (example below). The Print Spooler service is started.
Scroll down the list of services until you find the Print Spooler. Click on Print Spooler to highlight it. At the top-left of the window, click on Stop the service. For networked printers connected via TCP/IP, click Yes if you receive the following Stop Other Services prompt:
Printer status spooling essentially means another document is printing, and yours is waiting for its place in the queue. The reason for this is that printers dont have anywhere near as much memory as computers, and need an intermediary program to conduct and wave the print jobs to home plate.
Stop and start the spooler. On the properties panel, click Stop to stop the print spooler, and then click Start to restart it. Some errors are fixed by stopping and then starting the print spooler again. Leave the window open, as we have a couple of other changes to make.
