this episode is a part of our wedding day 101 series where we break down different parts of the wedding day and explain how we approach being wedding photographers step by step today were diving into the ceremony so when i think about a ceremony i think about it in three main parts so one the processional which is when the bride is coming down the aisle entering the ceremony coming down to the altar the actual main part of the ceremony which is the the ceremony itself and then the recessional which is when the bride and the groom are leaving the ceremony so in this video im going to be doing some diagrams and im going to be using the example of a bride and a groom and an officiant but all of this would apply no matter who youre photographing all right so this is an example of a processional so we have the bride and her dad or whoever is walking down the aisle back here at the back and then i would be standing normally right up here so that means im normally in front of the mother

Some people call in a Post Wedding Session, a Day After Session, or even an Adventure Session different names for the same thing.
There are various ways you can politely ask guests not to take photos. Ideally you should ask your celebrant to inform your guests of the no-photos rule at the start of the ceremony. They could say something along the lines of: Please, turn off your mobile phones and put down your cameras.
A wedding reception is a party usually held after the completion of a marriage ceremony as hospitality for those who have attended the wedding, hence the name reception: the couple receive society, in the form of family and friends, for the first time as a married couple.
Getting ready or as I like to call them Bride Prep/ Groom Prep photos provide photographic opportunities not available during any other part of your wedding.
Most wedding pronouncements end with the line, You may now kiss the bride! If that gives you the icks (and we totally get why it might), you dont have to include it. You can remove the line altogether or change it to: You may seal your promise/union/marriage with a kiss.
The most common option is after the ceremony and before the reception. This usually coincides with the end of the afternoon/beginning of the evening, and with our beloved sunset. I am pretty sure I can vouch for almost every other wedding photographer on the planet when I say that this is our favorite option.
