why does this shot look like this it's shot in what's called log and actually you know what hold on one second okay much better now let's talk about exactly what log is and why you might want to shoot like this log isn't just for campfires it's also a shooting profile for cameras log is short for logarithmic profile which is a camera color profile which retains more details in the highlights and the shadows shooting in a profile like this will give you more options in post to manipulate the image for instance when you shoot in a less flat profile like this and you happen to overexpose when you try to bring the brightness down in post it doesn't work very well and the image ends up breaking up but when you shoot in log the camera retains more information in the highlights and it gives you more wiggle room in post see much better so how do you expose when you're shooting in log it can be difficult to tell exactly what the exposure is when the image is this flat but you have a few option...

You can transfer pictures of your choice onto wooden objects using card stock, washable Elmer's glue and Elmer's Glue-All (a clear-drying polyvinyl acetate or PVA glue). The ink from the printed image on the card stock seeps into the glue while it is wet.
Shellac makes an excellent sealant for this purpose, as it dries quickly and is more protective than glue alone.

Apply 2 to 3 coats of regular Mod Podge. Be sure to extend the Mod Podge past the edges of the picture and onto the wood itself. This will help seal it in further. Allow the first coat to dry for 15 to 20 minutes before applying the next one. If you need to, let the second coat dry, then add a third.
Paint a thin layer of Mod Podge on the wood's surface. Make sure there are no bubbles or large pools of the Mod Podge on the wood. Smooth out all of the liquid and remove any excess with the edge of the foam brush. You can also use any photo transfer medium in place of the Mod Podge.

I recommend using matte paper if you're planning on framing (to cut down on reflections), or if your images don't include much intense color. Glossy paper, on the other hand, is highly reflective and prone to fingerprints, but it's also very vibrant. So glossy paper is ideal if you want to enhance colors.
