XML does not require a specific form of line break, so you can use whatever is convenient (carriage return, linefeed, or a combination) when creating an XML file.
The end tag functions exactly like a right parenthesis or a closing quotation mark or a right curly brace. It contains no data of its own; it simply ends the most recent (innermost) tag with the same name. XML requires a matching end tag for each start tag.
XML ignores the sequence of white space occurring between two elements if the parent element is defined to have element content. You can set the xml:space attribute of an element to preserve to retain the white spaces.
There are nine basic rules for building good XML: All XML must have a root element. All tags must be closed. All tags must be properly nested. Tag names have strict limits. Tag names are case sensitive. Tag names cannot contain spaces. Attribute values must appear within quotes (). White space is preserved.
Paragraphs in WordprocessingML The most basic unit of block-level content within a WordprocessingML document, paragraphs are stored using the element. A paragraph defines a distinct division of content that begins on a new line.
Use \n for a line break and \t if you want to insert a tab. You can also use some XML tags for basic formatting: for bold text, for italics, and for underlined text.
All XML elements must have a closing tag It is illegal to omit the closing tag when you are creating XML syntax. XML elements must have a closing tag.
You can use #xA; for line feed (LF) or #xD; for carriage return (CR), and an XML parser will replace it with the respective character when handing off the parsed text to an application.
