Open the Amazon EC2 console at . In the navigation pane, choose AMIs. In the navigation pane, choose Snapshots, and select the snapshot (look for the AMI ID in the Description column). (Optional) If you are finished with an instance that you launched from the AMI, terminate it.
An AMI includes the following: One or more Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) snapshots, or, for instance-store-backed AMIs, a template for the root volume of the instance (for example, an operating system, an application server, and applications).
An instance status check failure indicates a problem with the instance, such as: Networking or startup configuration issues. Exhausted memory. File system issues.
To recover an instance store-backed instance running on a host computer that failed Create an AMI from the instance. Upload the image to Amazon S3. Back up important data to Amazon EBS or Amazon S3. Terminate the instance. Launch a new instance from the AMI. Restore any important data to the new instance.
Check your web server access error logs for issues.Check that the web server is running and that there are no OS-level firewalls blocking access to ports Remotely connect to the instance through SSH. Check the web server status. To restart the web server, run this command: Verify that the web server is now running:
If you changed a lot of data in your EBS or dont have a previous snapshot, it will take longer to create your AMI. Depending on the size of the volumes, it can take several minutes for the AMI-creation process to complete (sometimes up to 24 hours).
If you receive a 1/2 checks passed message, either wait a little longer or Stop and Start the instance. Performing a Stop/Start will launch the instance on a different host, which will probably fix whatever problem was being experienced.
The two checks are: System docHubability Check, which confirms that AWS is able to get the network packets to the users instance. Instance Status Check, which detects a problem within the EC2 instance.
