hi there if we havent met yet im belinda welcome to my studio id like to show you what you can do on your calligraph plates with one color of ink and a little bit of strategic wiping lets take a look this is matte board this is used for putting around photographs and watercolors anything that goes under glass where you need to prevent the surface of the photo or the artwork from touching the glass so this gets cut into a frame and the artwork goes behind it this also works beautifully to make a calligraph i use the reverse side because the front side tends to have a little bit of a texture i dont want texture i want smooth and ill add texture where i need it so this can be carved with an exacto knife for this piece i used one of my watercolors as a reference and sketched it on the back of the matboard and pencil for tiny detail cuts this craft knife works very well especially for carving narrow lines like the incise lines i used around the cypress trees after i finished carving
