Headers and footers can be used to display information in the top and bottom margins of your document. They can include details like the authors name, page numbers, the date, and more. To create your own header or footer from scratch, double-click the margin at the top or bottom of your document. This will unlock the header or footer area, so you can add whatever information you want. You can also use the tools on the Design tab, which will appear on the right side of the Ribbon. When youre done, you can close the header or footer using the button here, or by pressing Esc on your keyboard. If you dont have a lot of experience with headers and footers, you might want to start with a built-in preset instead. Preset headers and footers give you several different designs to choose from, so theyre a great choice for any document. To add a preset header or footer, go to the Insert tab then click the command you want. In this example, were going to add a header. You can choose one of

After you open Final Draft and youre into your document: Click on document at the top of the page. Click on header and footer. You will be on the header function.
Place the blinking cursor at the very top of the next page on which a new scene or act and scene begins, go to Insert Label and type in the appropriate act and scene information; 11. Repeat this process until all pages are labeled correctly with act and scene information.
Scene headings are numbered only in shooting scripts, so as to provide a reference for production personnel. Its not necessary to number the scenes in a screenplay intended for submission. In speculative scripts, scene numbers only clutter the page and distract the reader.

Numbering a scene when adding a new scene between two existing scenes. Add a letter to your scene! If you want to insert a new scene between scenes 10 and 11, that scene should be scene 10B. If you need yet another scene after scene 10 B, that will be scene 10 C and so forth.
If you need to change any of the attributes of any of the elements that comprise a script, go to Format Elements (Mac) or Format Element Settings (Windows). Here you will find controls and settings for each element (Scene Heading, Character Name, Dialogue, etc.).
Touch the Settings icon at the lower right: Touch Header and Footer: To enter text, tap the Header editing field to display the blinking cursor and keyboard and then type in your text.
Go to Document Header and Footer. Type your information into the header where you want it to show on the page. Note that this information will appear on every page of the script. If you need custom information for a particular section of the script (i.e. act or scene number) you should use a label.
