FIN Flag: FIN stands for Finished. After the data transmission has been completed, devices have to terminate the connection using the FIN flag. If FIN is 1, the device wants to terminate the connection, else not.
Terminating a connection One peer of the TCP connection can signal to the other that it wants to terminate the connection by sending a packet with a FIN flag.
TCP flags are used within TCP packet transfers to indicate a particular connection state or provide additional information. Therefore, they can be used for troubleshooting purposes or to control how a particular connection is handled.
TCP Connection termination is a 4-way handshake and not a 3-way handshake. To understand these requirements, its important to remember two TCP flags: FIN-ACK Indicates acknowledgment of FIN packet. FIN Indicates no more data will be transmitted from the sender.
Connection flags (also referred to as SQL Option flags) are specified on the command line when invoking an Ingres operating system level command or user-written application that connects to a database. For details about other connection flags, see the description of the sql command in the Command Reference Guide.
The TCP RST flag signifies that we should immediately terminate the connection.
The FIN flag indicates the end of data transmission to finish a TCP connection.
PSH flag is used to terminate the connection.
