To perform DB loss readings in optical cables using the RP 460 power meter, it is important to set a reference before beginning. Make sure you have the DL S 355 light source, a single mode loopback jumper with LC SC and LC clipped ends, the loopback jumper, and the RP 460 power meter. Insert the SC end of the loopback jumper into the DL S 355, the single LC end into the RP 460, and the LC clipped end into the duplex adapter attached to the loopback module. Power both units on and ensure they are set to the correct wavelength by pressing the wavelength key. If unsure, consult your construction manager or build documentation. Set the RP 460 to DBM mode for accurate measurements.
