Ascending means going up, so an ascending sort will arrange numbers from smallest to largest and text from A to Z. Descending means going down, or largest to smallest for numbers and Z to A for text.
In general terms, Ascending means smallest to largest, 0 to 9, and/or A to Z and Descending means largest to smallest, 9 to 0, and/or Z to A. Ascending order means the smallest or first or earliest in the order will appear at the top of the list: For numbers or amounts, the sort is smallest to largest.
Descending Order Alphabet As we know descending order means to go from biggest to smallest. In alphabets from A to Z, the descending order will be from Z to A.
Same rules apply for the letters of the alphabet. When arranging them in ascending order they are arranged from A to Z or beginning to end. When it comes to dates, ascending order would mean that the oldest ones come first and the most recent ones last.
When numbers are sorted from lowest to the highest Order, the Order is called an Ascending Order. While the numbers are sorted from highest to lowest Order, the Order is called a Descending Order. Example: Arrange the numbers in Descending Order.
Still its easy to remember: ascending = increasing for numbers and alphabetical order for letters. Descending = the opposite.
You can use the ASC and DESC keywords to specify ascending (smallest value first) or descending (largest value first) order.
Ascending order is a method of arranging numbers from smallest value to largest value. The order goes from left to right. Ascending order is also sometimes named as increasing order. For example, a set of natural numbers are in ascending order, such as 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 and so on.
