A notice to enter is a form issued by a landlord to inform a tenant of the intent to enter their unit. Landlords may enter for various reasons, including maintenance, property showings, planning renovations, or testing smoke detectors, provided they give appropriate notice. State regulations differ; some require a minimum of 24 hours' notice, while others may not mandate any notice but suggest reasonable notification. Providing ample notice is advisable to maintain good landlord-tenant relations. If landlords misuse their right to enter, tenants may have the option to terminate their lease early.
