A ZIP+4 Code is a 4-digit code appended to a standard 5-digit ZIP that helps the USPS sort, route, and deliver mail more efficiently. The last 4 digits of these 9-digit ZIP Codes usually represent 6-20 delivery points on a USPS carrier route.
The Intelligent Mail barcode is a 65-bar Postal Service barcode used to sort and track letters and flats. It allows mailers to use a single barcode to participate in multiple Postal Service programs simultaneously, expands mailers ability to track individual mailpieces, and provides greater mail stream visibility.
Introduced on July 1, 1963, the basic format comprised five digits. In 1983, an extended code was introduced named ZIP+4 ; it included the five digits of the ZIP Code, followed by a hyphen and four digits that designated a more specific location.
What is a zip code? The first digit: this number refers to the national area, or defined group of states. The second and third digit: this set of numbers signifies a region within this group, such as a large city. The fourth and fifth digit: these numbers represent the associate post office or delivery area of a region.
A barcode is a series of long and short bars that represent ZIP Codes, ZIP+4 codes, and delivery addresses. The Postal Service uses automated equipment that reads the barcode to process and sort mail. At the Postal Service, the barcode tells us where to deliver your mail.
A 5-digit barcode is a single field of 32 bars consisting of a frame bar, a series of 25 bars that represent the correct 5-digit ZIP Code for the address on the piece, 5 bars that represent the correction digit, and a final frame bar.
Your debit card postal code is usually your current address or the address you gave when you signed up for the card. If you cant remember, look for your postal code or Zip code in the home address on your bank statement.
