On the Design tab, select Watermark. In the Insert Watermark dialog, select Text and either type your own watermark text or select one, like DRAFT, from the list. Then, customize the watermark by setting the font, layout, size, colors, and orientation. If you dont see the watermark, click View Print Layout.
There are various ways to watermark a document from a simple one word text that says Confidential, to more customized information that include the name and email address of the document recipient. A common and effective use of watermarking is seen with images.
What does watermark mean? Watermarking is the process of superimposing a logo or piece of text atop a document or image file, and its an important process when it comes to both the copyright protection and marketing of digital works.
Define Your Watermark: Text-Based: This is the most straightforward type, usually involving your name or business name followed by the copyright symbol. For example: Jane Smith Photography. Logo-Based: If you have a brand logo, it can act as a copyright. Ensure its simple, clean, and easily identifiable.
A watermark is text, an image, or data that is added to a physical or digital item (bank note, document, photo, etc.) to make it more difficult for the original item to be copied or used without permission. A watermark may be visible or invisible (hidden data) and layered on top or behind content.
A watermark could be a logo, an image, or text, and it can be as subtle or prominent on a document or photo as youd like. You may want your watermark to feature copyright information, an identifier like your name or logo, or status information, like Draft, or For Review.
Since a digital copy of data is the same as the original, digital watermarking is a passive protection tool. It just marks data, but does not degrade it or control access to the data. One application of digital watermarking is source tracking. A watermark is embedded into a digital signal at each point of distribution.
A watermark with the photographers brand, name or website can help people who want to use an image find the photographer and ask for permission. There are alternatives to watermarking, too. You can create copyright metadata instead that will stay with the image, even as people download and re-upload it elsewhere.
