Parts of a URL. A simple website URL should have at least three components: protocol, domain name, and path.
Scheme. The scheme, also known as the protocol, is the first part of a URL and determines how different files on a web server are displayed and transferred to the user. The scheme can be HTTP or HTTPS, which determines whether the web page will be displayed in hypertext, also known as HTML.
Scheme. The scheme is the first part of the URL. You will see either http:// or https:// at the beginning of a URL. This tells your browser that it will be opening a webpage.
Create static query strings with pre-defined values In your browser, navigate to the page your form is on. Then, copy the URL. Add a question mark (?) to the end of the page URL. Add the internal name of the property, followed by an equal sign and the value to auto-populate in the field.
Basics: What is a URL? Domain Name (always present) Top Level Domain (TLD) (always present) Subdomain. Protocol (always present, not always visible) Path/File (always present, not always visible) HTML Anchors. Parameters.
Lets assume that your Form has two fields - Name and Email Address - that you would like to pre-fill through URL parameters. To add a form field to the URL, we add a question mark ? after the form URL, then add the form field name, followed by an equal size = and the pre-filled value.
Here, the protocol is Http, the domain name is .xyz.com, the directory/file/path is welcome and the file main. html is stored under the directory welcome. Hence, it can be seen from the given points that Protocol/Domain name of the host/Path is the correct order of a URL.
Scheme. The first part of the URL is the scheme, which indicates the protocol that the browser must use to request the resource (a protocol is a set method for exchanging or transferring data around a computer network). Usually for websites the protocol is HTTPS or HTTP (its unsecured version).
