The basic five steps to fix paint scratch damage on a car are listed below: Clean the area. Start with a clean, dry car to avoid further damage. Apply touch-up paint. Sand it. Buff it. Polish it.
Step 1: Like with the paint scratch, wash and dry your vehicle. Step 2: Clean the area using the pad and scratch remover product. Step 3 : Use a fine brush and paint over the scratch with a matching paint, which can usually be obtained at an auto parts store or online if a rarer color is needed.
Step 1: Determine Chip Size. Step 2: Clean the Area. Step 3: Smooth out the Raised Edges Around the Paint. Step 4: Apply the Primer (If Necessary) Step 5: Apply the Paint. Step 6: Apply Clear Coat. Step 7: Polish and Buff the Repaired Area. Step 8: Wax the Repaired Area.
If the scratches are small enough then the primer can act as a filler for them and let them disappear. However, if the scratches are too big then filling will not be possible and will have to be done with a specialised filler or have to be sanded using the progressively finer grits.
Scoop a small amount of plastic filler onto a new razor blade and begin applying it along the surface in long, flat motions. Hold the blade at a 45-degree angle to create a smooth, even layer. Continue working in long, back and forth motions until the scratches are completely filled.
Simply apply four drops of Scratch Repair Renew to your cutting pad, set the buffer to low and work the product over the scratch. Increase the polishers RPMs as you work. When it vanishes, blend the finish with the surrounding area and wipe away any residual product with a clean microfiber cloth.
If its a couple of scratches and just a small surface area (2 square inches or less), then using a touch up paint pen will do the trick. If its larger than that, then you may need to go through a full touch up paint process and essentially re-paint that portion of the vehicle.
