On the Data tab, in the Get Transform Data group, click From Text/CSV. In the Import Data dialog box, locate and double-click the text file that you want to import, and click Import. In the preview dialog box, you have several options: Select Load if you want to load the data directly to a new worksheet.

Here are the rules for creating CSV files: Separate data fields with a delimiter, usually a comma. Keep each record on a separate line. Do not follow the last record in a file with a carriage return. In the first line of the file, include a header with a list of the column names in the file.

CSV is a delimited data format that has fields/columns separated by the comma character and records/rows terminated by newlines. A CSV file does not require a specific character encoding, byte order, or line terminator format (some software do not support all line-end variations). A record ends at a line terminator.
Using SQL Server Management Studio Import CSV Tools From the Object Explorer, Expand the Databases Folder. Select the Target Database. Select a Flat File Source. Specify the CSV File. Configure the Columns. Choose the Destination (SQL Server) Specify the Database Table and Check Column Mappings.
