Hello, everyone. Welcome to todayamp;#39;s Webinar. Thank you so much for joining us today! My name is Hunter Robertson. Iamp;#39;m a member of the DISQ Team, one of several groups engaged by HAB to provide training and technical assistance to recipients and providers for the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Services Report, or RSR. Todayamp;#39;s Webinar is presented by Ellie Coombs and myself. Ellie and I both represent the DISQ Teamamp;#39;s work with client-level data for the RSR. In this webinar, Ellie and I will showcase the Check Your XML Feature, which is a tool in the RSR Web System that you can use to check your client-level data quality prior to submission. Throughout the presentation, we will reference some resources that we think are important. To help you keep track of these and make sure you have access to them immediately, my colleague Isia is going to chat out the link to the presentation slides right now which include all the resources mentioned in todayamp;#39;s webi

The XML Object language uses the element to represent lists. The contents of the element can be only other XML Objects. In the following example, the content of the element are elements.
A data type within an XML document is a type that has been assigned to an element on the instance using the dt:dt attribute, or through an XML Schema, a formal definition of an XML document. In addition, data types can be declared as elements. The XML parser uses the data type information to validate the document.
Basic Data Types Built-in XML Data Types TypeDescription normalizedString A whitespace normalized string where all spaces, tabs, carriage return and line feed characters are converted to single spaces byte A numeric value from -128 to 127 hex64Binary Base 64 encoded binary information15 more rows
Typing an Element in the XML Document An element can also be typed through the dt attribute on the instance of the element. To do this, declare the data type namespace at the beginning of the XML document. The dt prefix can now be used on the dt attribute to assign a data type to an instance of an element.
The most explicit way to represent a null value in XML is to include an empty tag set for the data item. Unsupported methods for passing Null or empty values: Another way to represent a null value would be to not iinclude the tags for that item.
Posting XML with Correct Content-Type Header. To post XML to the server, you need to make an HTTP POST request, include the XML data in the body of the POST request message, and set the correct MIME type for the XML using the Content-Type: application/xml HTML header.
In XML, you can indicate an empty element like this: or you can use an empty tag, like this (this sort of element syntax is called self-closing): The two forms above produce identical results in an XML parser. Thats clear.
It can be one of the types included in the XML Schema definition (boolean, string, date, etc.), or it can be a custom type that you can define yourself. You can also add restrictions (facets) to a data type in order to limit its content, or you can require the data to match a specific pattern.
