In OpenOffice the page orientation is controlled by the page style. At the point where you want the orientation to become landscape, select the menu Insert - Manual Break. Choose Page Break and then from the Style drop down list select Landscape.
Using Fill Format mode. Use Fill Format to apply a style to many different areas quickly without having to go back to the Styles and Formatting window and double-click every time. This method is quite useful when you need to format many scattered paragraphs, cells, or other items with the same style.
Adjusting the printout to fit onto one page: With the spreadsheet open, select Format Page In the dialog that appears, select the Sheet tab. In the lower right corner of the dialog, there is a Reduce/enlarge printout scale control. Click OK. Use Page Preview (instructions above) to see a preview of what will print.

This mode is called Fill Format Mode and is situated in the Styles and Formatting sidebar. go to View ▸ Styles in the menu (or press F11 ); in the dialog that appears, the Fill Format Mode is the second from the right (fill icon). This is a toggle button - click once to enable it, a second click will disable it;
OpenOffice.org saves files in the OpenDocument format by default unless told otherwise. This default can be changed, for example, if you always want to save as Microsoft Office files. To change the default file formats: Go to Tools Options Load/Save General.
