When we got that first unit and I could hold it in my hand, I really felt that we had a picture of the future. This is what telephones were gonna be like. Marty wants to let the world know about his breakthrough. He arranges a PR stunt, an interview with a journalist and a photographer. The first interview that I did was actually on the streets and that was deliberate. It wouldnt do much good to do an interview sitting in a place, cos you could do that with a wired phone. Out on the streets of Manhattan, Marty Cooper is about to make history. Yeah, Joel Engels office please. Marty Cooper here. Here I was walking down the streets of New York and I thought now, who should I call? Yeah, Joel Engels office please The person that came to mind was my competitor at ATamp;amp;T Hello Joel, Yeah, Marty Cooper here. To my delight he answered the phone, and I said Joel Im calling you on a cell phone, but a real cell phone, a personal portable handheld cell phone. And there was silence at th

On 17 June 1946, a driver in St. Louis pulled out a handset from under his cars dashboard, placed a phone call and made history. It was the first mobile telephone call, placed on a system inaugurated by Southwestern Bell, one of ATTs local operating companies.
On April 3, 1973, Martin Cooper made the first ever cellphone call on the streets of New York. His invention, a brick-sized device, became the first cellphone available to the general public.
He thought that the cell phone should not be chained to the car but should be portable. The result, the DynaTAC (Dynamic Adaptive Total Area Coverage) phone, was 23 cm (9 inches) tall and weighed 1.1 kg (2.5 pounds). It allowed 35 minutes of talk before its battery ran down.
ing to the web sources, the first phone call from a mobile phone was made by **Martin Cooper**, an engineer at Motorola, on **April 3, 1973**. He called his rival at Bell Laboratories, Joel Engel, and said: \Im calling you from a cell phone, a real handheld portable cell phone.
1971: Intel Corporation develops the first single chip microprocessor, the 4004. The microprocessor would make telephones and switching systems smaller, lighter and faster to use. 1972: Motorola demonstrates the cellular telephone to the FCC. People could call each other without wires, and the cell phone was born.
The first telephone call was made on March 10, 1876, by Alexander Graham Bell. Bell demonstrated his ability to talk with electricity by transmitting a call to his assistant, Thomas Watson. The first words transmitted were Mr Watson, come here.
Martin Cooper (born December 26, 1928, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.) is an American engineer who led the team that in 197273 built the first mobile cell phone and made the first cell phone call. He is widely regarded as the father of the cellular phone.
And I said, Joel, Im calling you from a cell phone. But a real cell phone, a handheld, personal, portable cell phone, said Cooper. As you could tell, I was not averse to rubbing it in. This was the first cell phone call ever made.
