Hi, this is Gary with MacMost.com. Let me show you how to create an invoicing system using Numbers. So I sometimes get questions from people using Numbers and theyre trying to create invoices. What theyll do is create an invoice on each sheet. So they create a nice looking invoice and then theyll duplicate it and have different sheets in the same document or even different documents. The problem is you might as well just be using Pages or something to do that as you cant really do much with the data. The correct way to use a spreadsheet is to put records in rows where each row is a record for something like say billable hours. Then if you want to create invoices have a single invoice that pulls data from that. So heres what such an invoice may look like. But I havent entered any of this data except for this client ID. Watch what happens if I change the client ID. Im going to change it to client 5. If I do that notice the name of the client changes, these records change, the tota

Youll need to specify how many hours you worked on the project, your hourly rate and the total for that project or part of the project. Make sure the invoice clearly states the payment methods you accept and the details for payment.
The first number in this identifier is the date, followed by the customer number, and the unique sequence number. The last number is important if you have multiple invoices for the same customer on the same date in that case, the next invoice would be numbered 05232017-4602-01.
An hourly invoice is a billing document used by freelancers, consultants, and other professionals who charge clients by the hour. It details the number of hours worked, the hourly rate, and the total amount due.
Example of an invoice number with components: INV is the prefix or identifier. 20230717 is the date element in the format of YYYYMMDD. 001 is the sequential number assigned to the invoice. ABC123 is the client or account code associated with this specific invoice.
How do I make an hourly invoice? Your business name and logo. Your complete contact details. Your clients full contact details. Description of the work undertaken, hours worked, and hourly rates. Invoice number to keep organized. Payment due date. Tax rates, if applicable. Terms and conditions.
You can use the following steps to record your billable hours more effectively: Set an hourly rate. First, establish how much you plan to charge clients for the hours you work. Schedule your invoices and payments. Track your hours. Add up your billable hours. Create an invoice for the client.
Make sure that you include your hourly rate on the invoice along with the number of hours worked in the breakdown of services. Its usually best to create a table for this, with columns for the task description, hourly rate, number of hours worked and then the cost of this.
How to create an invoice number numbering your invoices sequentially, for example, INV00001, INV00002. starting with a unique customer code, for example, XER00001. including the date at the start of your invoice number, for example, 2023-01-001. combining the customer code and date, for example, XER-2023-01-001.
