An Amazon Machine Image (AMI) is used to create virtual servers (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud or EC2 instances) in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment. Different types of instances can be launched from a single AMI to support the hardware of the host computer used for the instance.

Get the default user name for the AMI that you used to launch your instance: For Amazon Linux 2 or the Amazon Linux AMI, the user name is ec2-user. For a CentOS AMI, the user name is centos or ec2-user. For a Debian AMI, the user name is admin. For a Fedora AMI, the user name is fedora or ec2-user.
Step 1 - create a machine Download your favorite flavor of the ISO. Create a new machine in the Virtual Box and attach the ISO to it. Run the machine, the distribution and set username and password. Either during the installation or afterwards the openssh package and enable the service.
