By default, ggplot2 will automatically build a legend on your chart as soon as a shape feature is mapped to a variable in aes() part of the ggplot() call. So if you use color , shape or alpha , a legend will be available.
legend(,Location, lcn ) sets the legend location. For example, Location,northeast positions the legend in the upper right corner of the axes. Specify the location after other input arguments.
To reposition or remove the legend of your chart, you can click on Properties in the function bar and then click Show Legend. Here you have several options to choose from and you can change the legend as desired.
You can place the legend literally anywhere. To put it around the chart, use the legend. position option and specify top , right , bottom , or left . To put it inside the plot area, specify a vector of length 2, both values going between 0 and 1 and giving the x and y coordinates.
Click the chart, and then click the Chart Design tab. Click Add Chart Element Legend. To change the position of the legend, choose Right, Top, Left, or Bottom. To change the format of the legend, click More Legend Options, and then make the format changes that you want.
Edit legend texts Click the chart. Click Chart Filters. next to the chart, and click Select Data. Select an entry in the Legend Entries (Series) list, and click Edit. In the Series Name field, type a new legend entry. Tip: You can also select a cell from which the text is retrieved. Click the Identify Cell icon. Click OK.
