The first name is defined as the name that is given to an individual person during birth or at a very young age. The last name is defined as the name that is given to a person from its family generations. The first name comes before the last name. The last name comes after the first name.
A full name is the set of names by which a person is known. It is often composed of two elements: a first name (given name) and a last name (surname). It can sometimes include middle names. The order of the first name and the last name differs ing to the different regions of the world and the alphabets.
For instance, if you have filled in your surname as and your given name as, the same will appear on your passport as: Surname: JAIN Given Name: PIYUSH KUMAR Note: In case you do not use a surname - leave the Surname column blank and write your full name in Applicants Given Name column.
Family-names (otherwise known as surnames): these are the names passed down from generation to generation (except in Iceland). Example 1: Mary Elizabeth Smith has two given-names and one family-name. If she calls herself Mary, then she has a first name, can use a middle initial, and has no problem with the forms.
Western name order Within alphabetic lists and catalogs, however, the family name is generally put first, with the given name(s) following and separated by a comma (e.g. Jobs, Steve), representing the lexical name order. This convention is followed by most Western libraries, as well as on many administrative forms.
