hello and welcome to the canberra camp law office legal podcast this edition weamp;#39;re talking about how an executor of an estate of a deceased individual obtains a tax id number from the irs so again if youamp;#39;re the duties of the executor once they get the proper paperwork from the county surrogate is to follow the law and um if set up an estate account but to set up an estate account they need to obtain from the irs a tax id number because the executor is responsible for overseeing the property and money of the deceased personamp;#39;s estate um so what you do is in order fulfill it you get the tax id number typically most people go online there is a mechanism where someone can uh mail in the request that takes two months uh facts in it so um you have to prove youamp;#39;re the responsible party uh you need to obtain the surrogate certificate uh and be prepared to provide online your social security number the social security number of the deceased person your address inf
