This video shows how to format the header for an APA style paper. So step one, double click in the header area, and then select Header and Footer in the ribbon at the top. Youamp;#39;ll select Different First Page, up there we type running head: (colon). Then we want the first chunk of our title, kind of a short name for it. copy that and paste it up here. Now remember the running head should be all capitals, so weamp;#39;ll change the format to Uppercase. We also want a page number so we select insert page numbers on the right. Okay so page one is good. Now for subsequent pages we also need the running header in capitals, Format, Change Case, Uppercase, and the page number. Thereamp;#39;s page one with our running head page 2, page 3, looking good.

Tips for writing subheadings Be succinct. The shorter the headline, the better. Stay away from puns. It may be tempting to use corny jokes and puns as headlines. Focus on benefits. There should always be benefits to reading your content, so try to incorporate some of them into your subheadings. Provide urgency.
General APA Guidelines Times New Roman font. Include a page header (also known as the running head) at the top of every page. To create a page header/running head, insert page numbers flush right. Then type TITLE OF YOUR PAPER in the header flush left using all capital letters.
If you do need subheadings, be sure to differentiate these from the headings, i.e. by bolding one and italicizing the other. Also, subheadings are not generally in a larger font than the text.
Highlight the text you want to turn into a heading or subheading and make sure you are on the Home tab. In the Styles section of the ribbon, click on the heading level you want. Heading 1 is typically used for document titles. Heading 2 is generally used for subheadings.
APA-styled papers end with a concluding paragraph(s) followed by the list of reference entries (APA, 2020). The concluding paragraph(s) appear at the end of the body section without the heading of Conclusion and includes information about findings or conclusions revealed through the research process.
Subheadings are usually printed in type thats smaller than the heading but larger than the text that follows. Newspaper subheadings also sum up the main theme of each separate section or paragraph of a story. The headline Catnapper Apprehended might be followed by the subheading A Case of Mistaken Identity.
Avoid having only one subsection heading within a section, just like in an outline. Do not label headings with numbers or letters. Double-space headings; do not switch to single spacing within headings. Do not add blank lines above or below headings, even if a heading falls at the end of a page.
Special headings called section labels are used for certain sections of a paper which always start on a new page. These labels should be positioned on their own line at the top of the page where the section starts, in bold and centered.
