in this video i will show you how to apply a formula to the whole column in microsoft excel in the cell d2 i prepared a formula which basically is the sum of a fixed value from column a and a variable value from column b and here is the first note if we have a fixed value in our formula we have to do the following we click into the cell identifier in our equation which is basically the a2 here because the fixed value is in the cell a2 and now we press the key f4 on our keyboard and what this does is basically it inserts a dollar sign in front of the column identifier a and also in front of the row identifier 2. now we hit the enter key and again select this cell but now we move our cursor downwards to the bottom right corner of the cell until it changes to this black little cross and when we drag this cross downwards with our mouse we can see that the formula will be applied to this whole area and as you can see in all the cells we now have the formula which contains this fixed value f
