An HTML comment starts with a tag.
XHTML comment In XHTML, is used for attaching notes, copyright notices, etc.. behind the scenes. Whats inside a comment has no effect on a page at all, though if you put something inside a comment you effectively remove it from the page.
HTML elements always have opening tags, content in the middle and closing tags. Attributes can provide additional information about the element and are included in the opening tag. Elements can be described in one of two ways: Block-level elements start on a new line in the document and take up their own space.
In XHTML documents, the ampersand symbol ( ) must always be escaped in attribute values. For better compatibility with XML parsers, authors should use numerical character references instead of named character references for all other character entities.
To comment out HTML code, use the less than symbol ( ) followed by an exclamation mark ( ! ), 2 hyphens ( -- ), the comment, 2 hyphens again ( -- ), and greater than symbol ( ). And there you have it now you can comment your HTML code correctly and safely.
How to Write Inline Comments in HTML. You can also add comments in the middle of a sentence or line of code. Only the text inside the will be commented out, and the rest of the text inside the tag wont be affected.
The Tag This tag defines the comment box within the form. For an explanation of all the attributes, see the HTML textarea tag specifications.
