Batch file comments are just read, and nothing really happens - they just add clarity. There are actually two kinds of comments for batch files: one official and one unofficial. The official beginning of a comment starts with three letters (REM). The unofficial beginning of a comment starts with two colons (::).
To write a comment in C, use the double forward slash (//) for single-line comments or enclose multi-line comments within /* and */. Single-line comments are used to explain a single line of code, while multi-line comments can explain a block of code or an entire section.
AsciiDoc supports two styles of comments, line and block. A line comment is for making comments line-by-line (i.e., comment line). A block comment is for enclosing an arbitrary range of lines as a comment (i.e., comment block).
In a Dockerfile, you can add comments to provide information about the Dockerfile and the instructions in it. Comments in Dockerfiles start with the # symbol and continue to the end of the line.
Seven types of comments emerge: directive, evaluative, advisory, interpretive, descriptive, directive questions (Socratic), and open-ended questions (discovery). The comments of beginners tended to be directive, evaluative, and/or advisory.
Comments are completely ignored by R and are just there for whomever is reading the code. You can use comments to explain what a certain line of code is doing, or just to visually separate meaningful chunks of code from each other. Comments in R are designated by a # (pound) sign.
