RTF code consists of plaintext, commands, escapes, and groups: Plaintext contains seven bit (US ASCII) characters except for \, {, and }. Returns and linefeeds can be present but are ignored, and are harmless (as long as they are not in the middle of an RTF command).
Creating an RTF template file consists of two basic steps: Design your template layout. Use the formatting features of your word processing application and save the file as RTF. Mark up your template layout. Insert the BI Publisher simplified tags.
On Windows, save a document as an RTF file by navigating to File Save as and then select RTF. Once youve opened your RTF file on Microsoft Word, select the text you would like to edit.
You can open RTF files in programmes like WordPad or Microsoft Word on a Windows device or Apple Pages or Apple Text on your Mac. Discover more document file types and text files today.
Working with the RTF Layout Open the RTF layout in Word, and on the BI toolbar click Sample XML in the Load Data, browse to the XML you saved and click ok. Make changes to your layout and Save. Best practice is to rename the layout using the date of change.
To modify an RTF template: If you are editing an existing layout: Select your report in the business intelligence catalog and click Edit. Open the downloaded RTF template file in Microsoft Word. Load the sample data that you generated. Edit or create the layout template. Save the file as Rich Text Format (RTF).
Format Currencies To utilize currency formatting in the RTF template: Set up the currency formats in the runtime configuration properties. The currency formats can be defined at the system level or at the report level. Enter the format-currency command in the RTF template to apply the format to the field at runtime.
