Space Bar will do the trick. You can use the tab key to bring the cursor to the check-box and hit the space bar on the keyboard to check or uncheck it.
Make a checklist in Word Type the list. Go to Developer and select the Check Box Content Control at the beginning of the first line. To change the default X to something else, see Change checked boxes from an X to a checkmark. Copy and paste the check box control at the beginning of each line.
Hold down the Alt key, and use the number keypad to enter the character code thats 0252 for the plain checkmark and 0254 for the boxed checkmark.
In the main sheet, insert checkboxes in the cells where you want the data to appear. Right-click the cell and select Format Control. Under the Control tab, select Checked under Value and then select the cell where you want the data to appear under Cell link.
Make sure that the checkbox content control is set up properly. You can check this by clicking on the checkbox content control and selecting Properties. In the Content Control Properties dialog box, click on the Check Box tab and make sure that the Checked and Unchecked values are set correctly.
Then, type the following code Alt+0252 and press Enter. This inserts the checkbox into your document.
