hello everyone welcome once again to geospatial tutorial today we will learn how to populate a field of a shape file using the values existing in the other fields first of all open the software as usual and load the file for which you want to do this exercise i have opened a file called roads and iamp;#39;ll be using this shapefile for illustration make sure that your file is geo-referenced otherwise the values that you get will not be accurate go to table of content right click and go to open attribute table option this will open the database file of this particular shapefile letamp;#39;s add two fields where we will be populating based on the values of other fields existing in the database iamp;#39;ll open a field iamp;#39;ll add a field and name it as test iamp;#39;ll consider short integer and precision you can consider say 5 press ok you can even take the default value as 0 which means after the decimal there will not be any points one field is added let me add another field
