If your display is dark, check the brightness level, check that your Mac and display are turned on and not in sleep, and make sure cables are connected. Check the brightness level: Try adjusting your displays brightness. Check that your Mac is not in sleep: Press the Space bar or any other key to see if the Mac wakes.
Staingate happens when the anti-reflective coating on certain models of MacBook displays begins to delaminate and wear off, causing a stain-like appearance that is noticeable when the screen is off, on a low brightness setting, or when sunlight is hitting the screen.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Appearance in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Select Light, Dark or Auto on the right.
Common reasons you might find lines on your MacBook screen are: Software glitches. Software issues within the macOS can cause graphical anomalies, including lines.
Check the cable: Make sure the cable you are using to connect your monitor to your laptop is in good condition and properly connected. Try using a different cable to see if that resolves the issue. Adjust the color settings: Use the monitors menu buttons to adjust the color settings.
Open System Settings and go to Desktop Dock. Scroll down and turn off Stage Manager. Next, go to the Accessibility section of System Settings. Click on Display, then turn on Reduce Motion and Reduce Transparency.
Your Macs display turns off after a period of inactivity in order to save power. You can change how long it waits before turning off the screen or even prevent it from turning it off altogether.
Go to System Preferences Displays and make sure that the resolution and color profile are set correctly for your specific monitor. You can also try adjusting the brightness and contrast levels to see if that helps resolve the issue.
