The simplest way to fade an entire photograph is to use opacity and solid backgrounds. Open it: Open your photo in Photoshop. Layer it: Create a new fill or adjustment layer by clicking the circle icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. Fade it: Adjust it:
Place your text box, as normal. Right-click on the text box. Choose Format Shape from the Context menu. Click the Fill and Line icon (it looks like a spilling paint bucket). Click on the Fill option to expand it. Use the Transparency slider to adjust how transparent you want the Text Box to be.
Follow these four steps to restore it: Click the View tab. Select Document Views in the dropdown menu. Choose Print Layout in the Document Views section. Your Word document should be back to its regular view.
Select File, choose a picture, and then select the Insert button. Move the Transparency slider in the Format Shape pane to adjust the picture. Or you may enter a number in the box next to the slider: 0 is fully opaque, the default setting; and 100% is fully transparent.

We are going to be forcing the document size larger so that bleeds can be included in the layout. Click the plus (+) icon to add a new custom page size.
Select Picture and choose the picture that you want. Select Insert. Select the shape, and go to Shape Format to open the Format Pane. Select Fill Picture or gradient fill and then drag the Transparency slider to set the exact percentage of transparency you want.
