The corrective actions that should be taken if a printer is printing faded images include checking and replacing the toner or ink cartridges, and cleaning the paper rollers and print head. Adjusting the printers resolution or paper alignment is less likely to resolve the issue of faded prints.
If you have printed a document or photo and the print is too light, patchy or faded, a common cause is the toner cartridge nearing the end of its life. However, there can be other reasons behind the deterioration in quality such as the toner density, humidity and the type of paper being used.
Wrong Printer Settings If your ink or toner cartridges are not empty but still showing faded texts or images, its possible that your printer is set to a lower print quality or draft mode, which can produce faded prints. Check your printer settings and make sure they are set to give you the best quality prints.
A common cause of faded or faint printouts from your inkjet printer, is dried ink particles causing a blockage. The printheads on an ink cartridge can be become blocked if the printer is not used for a period of time, so it is recommended to print a few pages each month to maintain the print quality.
Quick Fixes for Poor Quality Printing Results Align the Printer Cartridge or Head. Adjust Print Speed. Print From High-Resolution Files. Clean the Printer, the Heads, and the Cartridges. Choose the Right Paper. Respect Your Ink and Toner. Protect the Printer From Heat and Humidity. Check for Driver Updates.
Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. The ink cartridges may be old or low on ink, and you may need to replace them. Make sure the paper type setting matches the type of paper you loaded.
Print the Printer Settings report. Adjust the print density in the printer driver. Send a print job to the machine and review the print quality. Turn off the toner save mode. Perform a manual drum cleaning. Make 5 copies of a blank page to further clean any remaining debris left on the drum surface.\
