Select the Blur tool in Photoshop, choose a brush tip and strength, and drag it over the spots you want to blur. You can do the same in Lightroom.
Using the Gradient tool, draw a line across your image mask layer. This will result in a gradual fade across the line you have drawn. Expand it: You can experiment further with the tool by adding another photo beneath your main image layer to fade two images together, or try changing the colors for color fade effects.
You can use layer masks and the gradient tool to fade part of an image into a solid background. Open it: Open your photo in Photoshop. Mask it: With your image layer selected, click the Add Layer Mask icon to add a layer mask. Gradient it: Select the Gradient tool in the toolbar. Draw it: Expand it:
Choose Select and Mask from the options bar. Feather it: In the Properties panel on the right side of the screen, use the Feather slider to adjust how much of a blur effect will be applied to the layer mask that overlays the selected area.
In the Layer menu, select Layer Mask, then Reveal all. Use the Gradient tool to draw a line from inside the image toward the side or corner you want to fade away. Play around with this until the appropriate effect is achieved. Make sure a BW gradient is in the Gradient toolbar.
The Blur tool allows you to paint blur effect on specific areas of an image. Select the Blur tool . Use the Options bar to customize tool settings, like Size, Hardness, and Strength, to get the effect you need. Select and drag over the part of the image you want to blur.
Open the image in Photoshop. Create a duplicate layer of the background by right-clicking on the Background layer and selecting Duplicate Layer. Use a selection tool, such as the Lasso tool, to select the part of the background that you want to blur. Go to Filter Blur and choose the type of blur you want.
Use the Gradient tool to draw a line from inside the image toward the side or corner you want to fade away. Play around with this until the appropriate effect is achieved. Make sure a BW gradient is in the Gradient toolbar. Make sure the Foreground and Background colors are BW.
