If you failed a course then you can retake it for credit. The failed grade will not be removed or averaged; rather both the failed grade and the new grade are calculated into the GPA and included on your academic transcript.
Students requesting to repeat a course must do so at their College Registrars Office, where they will receive appropriate advising and will be enrolled in the course, provided there is space available, only after other degree students have had an opportunity to enrol.
If you fail a class, youll get a 0 on your transcript and that can bring down your GPA. Failed classes count toward your GPA, though some colleges do not count pass/fail classes in your GPA calculation. If you get an F, you still have to pay for the class without receiving any credit toward your degree.
Your Grade Point Average (GPA) indicates the range in which your official mark falls. For example, you will receive a 4.0 GPA for a course if your mark falls between 85 and 100.
The first thing to do is to speak to your personal or senior tutor, or your university assessment board. They will be your main point of contact if you fail a module. They will organise for you to resit the failed module. However, you can only do this once, so you should make your best effort.
The University of Toronto is a highly competitive school, and as such, the average GPA of applicants is quite high. In order to be considered for admission, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. However, the average GPA of accepted students is often much higher than this, typically sitting around 3.7.
A student who fails a course (grade below 50% / D) will need to repeat that class in order to graduate (if a student fails an elective class, they can repeat the same class or take a different elective in its place).
A passing mark is 60%. Cumulative GPA includes courses completed since September 1998 only; for previous results, refer to additional transcript information attached. The passing grade is D for physiology only and 60% in all other courses. The passing grade is 60%.
