The DPI of a digital image is calculated by dividing the total number of dots wide by the total number of inches wide OR by calculating the total number of dots high by the total number of inches high.
How do I find the DPI resolution of an image? Launch Photoshop on your laptop or computer. Navigate to File Open and select your image. With your image open, click Image Image Size. Select Pixels/Inch in the drop-down box besides Resolution. This will give you the resolution value.
Alternatively, you can use the Cmd/Ctrl + F keyboard shortcut or choose Help Photoshop Help from the menu bar. In the Discover panel, navigate to the Browse Quick Actions and select Adjust lighting. Click the Apply button to improve lighting tailored to your image.
To find out an images DPI in Windows, right-click on the file name and select Properties Details. Youll see the DPI in the Image section, labeled Horizontal Resolution and Vertical Resolution.
Fade the Image Using a Mask Select the Gradient tool . Click the layer mask thumbnail to activate the mask. In the Options bar, select the gradient that is white to black (Figure 4.14). Drag a gradient on your image to fade the image from visible to hidden.
Click File Open Choose your file. Next, click Image Image Size, set the resolution to 300 if it is less than 300. Click resample, and choose Preserve Details (enlargement) on the drop-down menu. Then click OK.
Create a new fill or adjustment layer by clicking the circle icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. Select Solid Color from the drop-down menu. Select a color of your fade in the color picker and click OK.
On Windows, find the image in File Explorer, right-click on it and choose Properties from the menu. There, click the Details tab and look for Vertical resolution and Horizontal resolution in the list, which will show you the images DPI.
